Chuck Caplinger’s mural-- “The History of the Date Industry in the Coachella Valley”--is a tribute to one of Indio’s most important industries, and is said to be one of Caplinger’s finest murals yet, according to
mural dedication attendees who have followed his work. The 18’ x 74’ mural is located on the north wall of Unique Bridal Boutique, at the corner of Miles Avenue and Oasis Street in Old Town Indio. It was
painted directly onto the building wall over a five-week period, using a scissor lift. This third in the series of historical murals sponsored by the Indio Chamber of Commerce and the Old Town Indio Business
Association, was officially unveiled on May 30, 1998.
