Living off the land and the role of the family farm was celebrated with the dedication (Saturday, April 27, 2002) of the sixth mural of the Murals of Santa Paula series. On the east wall of the Bank
of America building on Main Street, acclaimed mural artist Chuck Caplinger of Twentynine Palms recreated many facets of life for farm families (1880 to 1930) and what they raised, including sheep, cattle, walnuts,
apricots, and lima beans. During the mural’s dedication, Caplinger added, “Murals not only serve as builders of community pride, but can also be used as economic engines when cultural tourists visit
towns that have such art works.”
