Since 2003, Caplinger has participated in the annual Open Studio Art Tours with the Morongo Basin Cultural Arts Council. For his studio exhibition in 2005 & 2006, he created “The Mystical Desert” southwest
oils on canvas, desert landscapes & wildlife, Giclee art prints, painted gourds, walking sticks, turquoise jewelry and gift items. Also featured was “Night Sky” photography by internationally acclaimed
photographer Wally Pacholka, three-time award winner of Time-Life “Picture of the Year.”

Internationally famous night sky photographer Wally Pacholka is a three-time winner of the Time-Life “Picture of the Year” award. His images of the Hale-Bopp comet over Joshua Tree National Park have been used by NASA, and have appeared at the Smithsonian and in national publications. Wally’s framed and matted prints of his illustrious photographs were featured at Chuck Caplinger’s Desert Art Studio & Gallery, Twentynine Palms, CA, during the Open Studio Art Tours 2005 & 2006.
